Side by Side Care is now an established part of the Crewe and Nantwich communities. Our care givers live and work in the towns. Promoting local issues and celebrating the events that make the area special is close to our hearts.
What’s the most important thing about where you live? It’s
not roads, houses or shops. They all make a difference, but it’s the people
that make places special. That means communities.
Keeping communities together and being part of them is one
of the reasons Side by Side Care was formed four years ago. Personal experience
showed how important it is to be able to keep family members in the home they
have known for years.
That’s why we provide at-home care for people who want to be
independent and stay in and around the people that matter to them.
towns to be proud of
Crewe and Nantwich have been linked for many years. It’s a
parliamentary constituency, and until Cheshire East Council emerged in 2009 the
area was administered by what was Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council. Look hard
enough, and you can still see a few of the old signs and borough crests.
The two towns are, of course, very different. That’s a good thing. Wouldn’t life be boring if everywhere was the same? History books tell us how Nantwich evolved as a market town, and Crewe many years later becoming a railway, engineering and manufacturing hub.
The things that make Crewe and Nantwich so different are
loved, criticised, debated and celebrated. People come and go, working in one,
eating and drinking in the other, playing and watching sport in both, enjoying
theatre, events and festivals across the area.
Sure there’s rivalry, just as there is between most towns
that sit close together. But there’s also much pride.
Crewe and Nantwich
One thing you can’t fail to notice is how well connected
Crewe and Nantwich are. Getting into Crewe is easy from almost anywhere in the
country – road or rail. There are even rumours that a small airport was
discussed in the early 1960s, on land that later became the Crewe Business
The great connectivity in and out of Crewe makes getting to Nantwich
easy. Hop on another train, drive down Nantwich Road past bustling independent
shops, or grab one of many buses or taxis – you’re there in ten minutes.
It’s also why Side by Side Care bills itself as the local
care company for local people. Our service users are supported by people who live
in and around the same communities. When they do have to travel, it’s only a
couple of miles.
We have people who drive between visits, double-up to save
time, fuel and to offer two caregivers where users need extra support, and we
have staff who cycle and walk when it’s fine weather.
Despite many differences, Crewe and Nantwich is still one big
community. We’re blessed with a major hospital, two community-oriented football
clubs, a wide range of other sporting facilities, greenways, cycle paths, pubs,
restaurants and plenty of work.
There is plenty to be done, improving roads, the town centres
and other vital community services, but we should all remain positive, value
the communities that exist around Crewe and Nantwich, and keep supporting the
people, places and businesses that make our area so special.
Side by Side Care is part of the beating heart that keeps
communities together. If you’d like to know more about the at-home care services
we offer, or you’d like to work with us, get in touch.
